Bio
My name is Adia Nembhard, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
I was licensed in 2013 and since have held a private practice of psychotherapy and consultation in Mission Valley. My passion is to help others to help themselves, and toward that goal, I have dedicated my career to supporting groups that experience high levels of marginalization including the Queer community, youth, and BIPOC communities. Empowering others to develop their voice to create the change that they wish to experience in their lives drives my work.
My therapeutic practice is founded in Adlerian Psychology, and I use a variety of interventions to support personal and identity development and the strengthening or repair of relationships. Some interventions include Cognitive Behavior therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral therapy. I have completed Foundational Ketamine Assisted therapy training, and Level 1 Emotionally Focused therapy training and I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
My body of work includes reliable individual, couples, and family psychotherapy, clinical supervision, and professional consultation. I provide training and workshops to develop mental health practitioners’ clinical ability to successfully intervene with youth and families. I craft training to enhance the ability of clinical leaders to support diverse staff members. My presentations at National conferences are designed to build stronger communities and cultivate a holistic and client-centered approach to mental health. I am a certified HOPE facilitator and committed to guiding organizations through HOPE implementation.
